When reading about the QUADs you often find the recommendation to exchange the diodes in the high-voltage section of the power supply.
The mains power switch is broken at one, so it is time to disassemble it. The PCB is encapsulated by wax:
It requires approximately half in hour at 150°C to free the PCB
All diodes got replaced by 2KV ones:
All parts are cleaned, the power switch is replaced by a robust metal version:
The result looks promising:
